Implementing the project
Introduction
This project was thought of because of realizing how much people have been dying from chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases. The number is alarming and therefore something had to be done about it. For this reason, a project had to be thought of that would help reduce this issue because it is not something that affects healthcare’s only but a thing that will help the respective patients from getting to the serious stages of these diseases. Therefore, this project focuses on COPD and how patients can manage the disease alone.
Due to none standardized delivery of education there have been so many cases of readmissions. This project therefore will try and see whether it will be able to reduce the number of readmissions of the people with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, (Rogoff, & Screve, 2019). This will only be possible through coming up with effective programs which will help the patients by educating them on ways through which they will be able to manage the diseases without necessarily needing to go back to the hospital. This is going to actually be the main objective of this project that we are going to implement.
Budget
A couple of things will have to be put in mind when doing the implementation. We will need to do the scheduling because without that things will be done in a much unplanned way and we might not be able to distribute the available resources accordingly. Planning is one of the most important things because it helps a project management team be able to utilize the limited resources well by prioritizing the most important things. A budget will have to be made by the team in order to make sure that all the necessities will be catered for. All the resources that will be required will be ranging from five hundred thousand dollars to seven hundred thousand dollars. The pricing will depend on the season that we will do the project. However, the team decided that the budget that we will work with is the one that is on the higher side because there might be matters arising and therefore everything will have to be catered for.
This money will be inclusive of all the resources that will; be needed during the education process. There will be need of academic materials like books and pens and other things like stands and flip chats to explain. Also, the will be need of print outs of the notes that the patients or rather those who will attend will read, (Burston, 2015). We will also be catering for transport of all the trainers to the respective training points and in places where we will need to pay for the halls and the grounds that money will be responsible for it. Also, the team felt that it was necessary for them to have more trainers and therefore we will have to hire more people in order to make education process effective.
Schedule
As discussed earlier, the budget will depend on the season. Implementation will either be done during the summer or during the autumn. The reason behind choosing these two seasons is because, the project wants to maximize the resources that it has and therefore the team felt that the summer will be the best time because most people do not care about learning materials and therefore it is cheaper to purchase them at that time. However, the season we are headed to is autumn which is closer and since whatever we are dealing with is sort of an emergency, then we might as well settle with autumn. The project will take approximately six months because it does not involve a lot.
The first month will be implementing of the infrastructure. This is one of the things that will be done before the implementation begins. Although it is actually part of it, but this is just a way of making sure that the team is well organized and it has everything set before the trainees come in. on this same month, the team will have a sit down with all the organizations that will be involved with the implementation. This should not take a lot of time and therefore it will be done amidst setting up the infrastructure and planning everything else. By the end of this month, the team will be ready with all the requirements and the resources that will be needed for the success implementation of the project.
During the second month is when the real training will begin. The training will begin immediately after the team meets up with all the organizations that will be involved in the project. This is because their go ahead will count a lot. At this time it is expected that all the trainees will have had a chance to meet with the team and will be ready for the training sessions. In this same month the trainees will be given solutions to most issues that they have been facing and they will be taught how to manage various COPDs. This will also be part of the training and therefore there will not be any time apart for it. Lastly, there will be practical’s now to make them understand more.
In the third month is when people will be tested on the things that they will have learnt. This will last for a week or two maximum depending on the results from the testing. After this, the trainees will be released where they will be required to do the implementation of what they have been taught, (Cheema, & Cheema, 2019) This will take around four to six weeks because there will be need of enough time so that the results will be clear. After that, the project team will now begin monitoring the outcomes which will take a month and from this we will be able to draw conclusions.
Steps
1. Infrastructure preparation
The first thing that we will do is preparing all that we will need for the standardized education. This is basically setting up the materials that we will be using in the places where we will be situated, (Rosenberg, 2017). Here we will set up the charts, we will do the print outs, we will purchase the materials and we will make the arrangements. This is the step where all the things that are required are purchased and are kept ready for the training.
2. Coordinating with the involved organizations
This step will be done the same time as the first time. This is because here the team will need to coordinate with all the organizations that will be involved in the success of this project. These organizations will include the clients, the organizations responsible for delivering resources and setting up the infrastructure and even the organizations that will help up with the IT solutions. This is also a thing that should be done before implementation because a project cannot begin without knowing that everything is under control.
3. Training implementation and testing
Of course after everything is set the main implementation will begin. The implementation will be basically training because as we discussed the project is about standardized education about various ways through which people can manage COPD without having to go back for readmission. This training will also incorporate the solutions to those that already are in such situations. After this the trainees will be tested to see if the understood whatever they were being taught during the training. This part is to ensure that all the trainees are on the same level so as to know whether the team should carry on with the next step or there should be recaps on some parts of the training.
4. Practical
The fourth step will be conducting practical. This is where trainees are shown using real life experiences what they were taught in theory. The trainees will have to be brought either real patients who are suffering from these diseases or people that are made to look like they have these symptoms. This will add to their understanding because it is very obvious that not all the people will be learned in that particular training center and therefore people will need physical evidence of what they are expected to do. These practicals will mainly be there to help in enhancing their understanding.
5. Final verification
After the testing, the team will look at the outcome. This will help them distinguish whether the trainees are ready to do the implementation or not, (Savolainen, & Ahonen, 2015). This step is where the training is verified and a go ahead it given. If an issue will come up at this step then the team will need to go back to step three and redo the training. This is the most crucial step because it is the final one before the main thing is done. Therefore, if mistakes are done in this stage, the project might end up being a very big fail and as a team it will have wasted so much of our time. For this reason, there will be a lot of keenness here.
6. Implementation and solution monitoring
Here the main work will have been done and the team will now send the trainees to go and educate and create awareness to those suffering from COPD. Also, the team will release those that are victims to see whether they will be able to manage the diseases without needing to be admitted. After doing this we will then monitor the outcomes to see whether
