Watch the TED Talk: https://www.ted.com/talks/steven_pinker_is_the_world_getting_better_or_worse_a_look_at_the_numbers
Canadian-American psychologist Steven Pinker uses statistics to outline the progress that the world has made from 18th century to the present day. He concludes that the world is better now than ever before.

Summarize two of Pinker’s graphs on the changes that the world has made from the video, where he uses data to back up his claim (e.g. life expectancy, child mortality, famine).
What do you think of his approach – and what do you conclude from his data and argument?
Do you agree, based on his argument, that the world is getting better, and that the impact of improvements in “development” is having a better effect on global wealth?

Keep in mind:

Answer the questions in 400-500 words (one/one and a half pages), double spaced, 12 pt font.

You should reference ideas from the video or textbook by using the following format for citations in text: (Rosling 2010) or (Rubenstein 2019). If you cite directly you also have to add the page number, e.g. Rubenstein describes the situation of the Roma as “devastating and desperate” (Rubenstein 2019: 44).
