Integrating the creative arts into instruction is a strategy that can be engaging and motivating for young
children. Music can be used as an engagement technique or a part of the instruction to help differentiate the
learning. Singing, instruments, or listening to music are just a few suggestions of how to integrate music into a
lesson plan.
Use the “COE Lesson Plan Template” and one or more literacy standard and objective from your unit outline in
Topic 3 to create a lesson plan for your field experience classroom.
The lesson plan must:
-Include clear objectives that align with the selected standards.
-Integrate literacy and music to increase engagement.
-Use various teaching strategies to increase engagement and
learning.
-Include developmentally appropriate interactive technology to
enhance learning.
-Include formative and summative assessments that are aligned
to the selected standards to provide feedback throughout the
lesson and assess student learning of the standards/objectives.
Support your lesson plan with a minimum of two scholarly resources.
