All questions (1-10) ask you to quote relevant passages from the textbook, and cite them correctly.
Find passages in the textbook that answer the question, and type what the textbook says – quote the textbook
– put the quotation in “quotation marks,” and cite your source. Refer to the examples I provide below.
All responses should be written in full sentences, not lists or a few words.
Questions 1-8 simply ask you to quote the text. In questions 9 and 10, I am asking you to go a step further.
For 9 and 10, please BOTH quote the text/cite it, AND respond to what you have read. In question 4, I am
asking you to generate questions about the material. Question 5 asks you to find connections between the
reading and your life, and/or other ideas from class
Below are sample answers to show you what I’m looking for, and how you should present it. This is how you
punctuate a citation: in the parentheses I include the author’s last name and the page number. Please do this
as well.
