Pathophysiology Case Study Assignment
An 18-year-old football player collided with a second player at a game yesterday. He does not remember hitting his head. No change in the level of consciousness, but did seem stunned and slow to respond to questions initially. He currently has a mild headache but no nausea. He notices that bright lights increase the intensity of his head pain. He wants to know if he can play next weekend. He thinks it is ok because he did not hit his head or pass out.
Do you think he had a concussion? When answering this question describe the mechanisms of injury and relate this to symptoms on the scene and the patient’s current symptoms. What are the primary and secondary injuries that have occurred? When can he return to play? Pathophysiology Case Study Assignment
