Task:

This assignment assesses the following learning outcomes:
1. Identify the nature of business entities and risks and explain aspects of management and organizational practice.
2. Analyze environmental influences on a business entity including innovation and adapting to changing environmental conditions.

Part A

For this part of the assignment, you’ll demonstrate your understanding of three types of business entities in New Zealand and some aspects of management and organizational practices.
The three types of business entities that you are expected to reflect on include:
• private business
• not-for profit
• social enterprise.

Please ensure that none of the companies chosen for Part A are from the fitness industry as Part B of this assignment focuses specifically on this industry.

Choose one New Zealand business for each entity type.
Consider three key characteristics of each entity type and show how they apply to your chosen organizations. Use examples to support your answer.

Using any one of your chosen businesses, show how it could apply each of the four functions of management (POLC) to achieve its organizational goals/success. Support your answer with a description of each function and two examples for each function.

Management approaches

Using any one of your chosen businesses, show how that business may apply any two of the following management approaches in their practices. Your answer should also include a brief description of these approaches.
• Contingency/Situational approach
• Humanistic approach
• Administrative approach
• Scientific management approach

Part B

For this part of the assignment, you’ll analyse the working environment of the fitness industry of New Zealand. Some questions may also expect you to apply relevant concepts to a chosen company. Introduction to Management Research
