Looking Ahead: Geopolitical State of Affairs and eLearning Over the next two modules, you will work on an assignment focused on a geopolitical event related to a sector of the eLearning industry. For the purposes of this Assignment, geopolitics refers to geographic, political, economic, social, and governmental policy that directly or indirectly impacts education and eLearning. Geopolitical events may occur at the global, national, state, or local level; examples include: The rise of private for-profit charter schools in K–12 Rising tuition at institutions of higher learning Environmental disasters that interrupt the school year Military students on deployment due to political unrest in the Middle East and Asia Internet governance and net neutrality Immigration reform related to schooling Mobile learning in areas without Internet connectivity Choose a sector of the eLearning industry and identify a significant current geopolitical event that is having an impact on your chosen sector.
