Movies and TV can tell us a lot about the people of a society and its culture. Some people may criticize the ‘realness’ of movies and/or TV shows or deny they reflect or influence their lives, but one thing is clear: both TV and Movies sometimes display the ideas, stories, realities, and principles that people value most. However, are the values of a society most clearly revealed in its movies/TV?
Write a journal of 2 or more full double-spaced pages with 1 inch margins and 12 point font, using paragraphs for each response, in which you in which you discuss the ways in which the Mass Media, particularly movies, create or reflect reality.
- Describe two influences you believe TV and/or movies have on society. You can describe any kind(s) of influence you want. It could be diversity, representation, audience viewing habits, kinds of stories and/or characters you see and their influence, ways stories are getting to audiences (cable vs. streaming), the kinds of television shows or movies, etc. Make sure to give specific examples from television/movies to support your thoughts.
