Sports do not build character. They reveal it said John Wooden, an iconic UCLA basketball coach. Aside from the physical activity provided by playing sports such as Basketball, it also cultivates positive benefits. This is especially true for youths. Indeed, while playing basketball can be fun for children it also builds self-esteem, self respect, provides social interaction, teaches sportsmanship, learning team-work, and learning to play fair. Thus, play basketball is not only about developing hand-eye coordination or shooting a ball in the net, youth sports provide many developmental, physical, and psychological benefits.
