For the final I have chosen to do the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). SWOT analysis facing the VHA are:

Strengths:

Largest integrated healthcare organization in the United States.

Remote access to care.

Government supported.

Weaknesses:

Negative publicity: long wait list to be seen at the VHA and poor communication.

Funding: based on government funding.

Inability to train providers outside the system.

Opportunities:

Ability to expand services with technology and outreach programs.

Media influence to implement policy change.

Many locations throughout the U.S. and territories and easily accessible.

Threats:

Government budget cuts.

Healthcare provider shortages.

Caregivers outside the VHA system that provide choices.

The product that I plan to promote is the Cook Children’s Healthcare System located in North Texas.

Strengths

Specialists within its system (no need for outside referrals)

Specialize in pediatric patients only

Has one of the most advanced transport fleets available ( Airplanes, helicopters, ambulances)

Weaknesses

Limited number of insurances accepted

Limited pool of candidates to hire (must have pediatric training/ credentialing) ped

Lack of Urgent Care Centers (currently only 7)

Opportunities

Expansion of telemedicine

Regional expansion- No other children’s healthcare systems in the area

More Emergency Departments- Currently only one

Threats

Hospitals and emergency rooms that see all patients

Stand-alone neighborhood Emergency Rooms that are conveniently located

Larger healthcare networks that have pediatric capabilities
