Is the end of the PC era?
Gartner/IDC report shows that the sales of PC / notebook is on a downtrend and is becoming worse every year. As a strategic and planning manager of Lenovo Hong Kong Limited (or any brand that you are familiar with), I have to write a proposal to my manager to seek out a solution on how to tackle the bad economic environment and the bad business.
The proposal should include:
1) Cover sheet with title
2) Abstract (~100-150 words)
3) Background of the industry / company and the company’s concern(s). What is the aim of this research? (~ 300 words)
4) ONE research question and THREE TO FOUR objectives (~100 words)
Question: Is the end of PC era? 3-4Objectives: e.g. What is the life cyle of PC? Would changing the sales model work? (e.g. PC-as-a-Service (PCaaS) or HP Device-as-a Service (DaaS) Is there any new use of PC? Can Gaming PC save the market? (To writer: the objectives are up to you, you can decide on what to write)
5) Literature review (~600 words), a summary of usefulness for your proposal, of the sources of data reported in at least 10 relevant published works. Each work must be fully referenced (no word limit on references)
6) A statement of methodology (~500 words), which can be qualitative, quantitative or mixed, which you would propse to address your reseach problem. This should include examples and proposed work timetable (i.e. a Gantt chart – not word limited). DO NOT ATTEMPT TO COLLECT ANY PRIMARY OR SECONDARY DATA at this stage.
Actually i have a sample survey “How can we make PCs more compelling for everyone?” that my company sent out to the employees recently. I will upload it the dropbox account and see you can make use of it. The word limit of the coursework should be around 1500.
