The Chapter Discussions are intended to promote the exchange of ideas and resources as related to course
content among class members. Your prompt posts and meaningful responses are critical to creating and
maintaining an effective online learning environment.
You must post an original response by Wednesday of the due date week. Early posts are welcome. Clearly cite
your sources and add in-text citations and references. Your original post must include at least 150 words.
Include your word count at the end of each of the three posts (e.g., “Original Post: 224”).
Then you will post a professional and thoughtful response of at least 100 words to two (2) of your classmates.
Keep in mind the following:
• Full credit is not guaranteed
• Excessive spelling and/or grammatical errors will result in 0 points
• Use proper capitalization and punctuation along with complete sentences
Post an original paragraph answering one (1) of the questions below and copy and paste the question at the
beginning of your post:
Obtain and carefully review the code of ethics at your current employer. Briefly summarize what stands out to
you, and whether it clearly reveals the minimum ethical standards. Upon hiring, did anyone explicitly cover the
code of ethics and discuss what is expected of employees? Did you have to sign a code of ethics as a
separate document that is placed in your employee file? Should the code of ethics be discussed in new hire
orientation, during initial onboarding, and/or once a year as a refresher?
Review the Top 10 list of Fortune’s most admired companies (Links to an external site.). Pick one or two to
discuss. Are they admired because of high profitability, innovation, or their culture? Based on what you have
read in this chapter about organizational culture, assess how the culture has contributed to their success. Also
discuss if their organization structure is mechanistic or organic.
Discuss your current or former employer’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. Has the organization
established a clear reason for engaging in such efforts? Is there leadership and employee buy-in? Is CSR part
of the underlying level of culture or the surface level of culture? Did CSR require the change of organization
structure? Review this piece by a Public Relations firm (Links to an external site.). Do you agree or disagree
that during these turbulent and insecure times, organizations should continue to invest in CSR?
