in Excel. Refer to the Load the Analysis ToolPak from Microsoft for specific instructions. After
reading the content on correlation along with viewing the asynchronous videos, you are to
complete the following assignment. Upload your completed assignment for grading.
Correlation Excel Instructions:
- Download and open the Correlation Excel Spreadsheet (located in Toolbox)
- In Excel click the data tab in the top tool bar
- Select data analysis in upper far right corner of the ribbon
- Select correlation
- Click OK
- Select the input range of data for correlation including the labels in the first row (cells
b2:c13) - Click box “labels in first row”
- In output options, identify where the output range (cell g16)
Assignment Instructions
Within each sheet in the excel worksheet provided, calculate the correlation for each sheets’
data set. After completing the calculations, answer the following questions.
Sheet 1 Calculation - What is the correlation coefficient?
- What is the direction of the correlation between SAT scores and 1st year freshmen GPA?
Sheet 2 Calculation
On sheet 2, another SAT score and freshman GPA has been added (highlighted in red). - What is the correlation coefficient?
- Is there a change in the correlation coefficient in sheet 1 data set and sheet 2 data set in
the direction and strength of the association? - What is the direction of the association in sheet 2?
- What does this association suggest?
