Review should include direct references to the texts (both to the book being reviewed and to the relevant chapter from the Smith textbook) with citations in MLA format:

You will be expected to complete book reviews during Modules 4 and 8. These assignments are based upon required course readings that proffer contemporary accounts of the lived experience of Confucianism and Islam. The reviews call for you to consider the contemporary expressions of these faiths and to reflect upon their relevance to your own and our collective societal experience. As you do so, consider how central teachings, principals, and practices of these faith-based traditions could be introduced and implemented into your own life, experience and culture so as to lend to your personal and collective edification.

Book reviews should be typed, double-spaced, 12-point font, and approximately 5 pages in length. Typographical and grammatical errors will be penalized. Guidelines and rubrics will be provided in the course. The book review guidelines will frame the assignment within the objectives of SLU’s QEP: critical thinking, values and application/decision-making.

Note that according to the Grading Rubric, the Book Review should include direct references to the texts (both to the book being reviewed and to the relevant chapter from the Smith textbook) with citations in MLA format: REL223_BookReview_Rubric – ONLINE.pdf
