- Intellectual property is so crucial here the States, so happy to be studying this topic. Intellectual property protection is even more crucial to business owners and entrepreneurs. So pleased to read from a Collegiate textbook that importance, as brief as it is. What entrepreneurs can expect from the trade war in China is the topic. Mention of forced intellectual property transfers are apparent. Intellectual property theft is mentioned briefly. China wants to do business with us, saying the word war is radical speech. China wants to know more about the United States, this is why China is coercing the US to do property transfers. We operate out of China, knowing our businesses protection rights will keep fair ground and agreement between the two sovereign countries. The accusations of thievery arise from not doing property transfers, while China denies any accusations.
Telling the truth to China is ideal. Doing business with China and telling them our intellectual property and intellectual property protections will give them what they want and they would not have to resort to thievery. They want to know this information, being truthful is not any issue, we have been doing business with them for centuries. Setting up special interest groups that surround this topic and raise awareness is ideal as well. We live in a democratic society were not everyone is made aware of what is going on there own country. Lobbying and tabling the issue of intellectual property theft will ensure, in time it will cease to exist. Lowing tariffs can reduce this issue as well.

The article “Donald Trump, China, and IP theft, what is the deal?” by Vincent LoTempio, registered Patent Attorney, describes the issue of Intellectual Property theft by China. Intellectual property (IP) is a property of humans’ intangible creations. Intellectual property theft has been an issue for many years. IP theft is copying others’ work without permission. It could be their logo, their formulas, advertisement, packaging, and many American companies are victims of Intellectual Property theft by China. The study shows among five American companies one of them has their IP stolen by China. The theft usually happened when these companies form a venture with China and allowing China to use their IP. It is a common practice for companies to share their IP when doing business together. China used this opportunity to steal technologies and sold them illegally (LoTempio, 2017).
Intellectual property theft has caused American companies to lose a great amount of money and resources. One way to stop IP theft is to implement a policy that protects intellectual property when entering into agreements with Chinese companies. This process first needs to identify the IP, limiting the access to it, and to invest in a cyber-security system. The other solution to IP theft is recognizing the creator and owner of the invention by patenting the work and protecting the work using copyright procedure (Gaspar, et al., 2017). This allows companies and creators to prevent others from copying their work and if they do, to sue them.
