Peer response for the first draft of argumentative essay that your classmate wrote.
Please read the papers of a peer/classmate and compose a 1-page response your peer paper based on the assignment sheet’s guidelines. Note: Our focus in on content and ideas, not grammar or spelling errors.
While reading your colleagues paper, your focus should be primarily on content with some attention paid to style. Approach your colleagues paper in the same way you approach readings for the course. Your aim is to help your colleague create a productive revision plan for an-other draft of their paper.
How?
This paper should be in MLA format, 1-inch margins, 1 page in length, 12 point clearly legible font, times new roman and double-spaced.
Elements to Address:
Briefly summarize what you think are the main points in your colleagues paper. Be concise.
Positive Criticism: 2-3 comments addressing what works well in the paper (use of sources, organization, intro, conclusion, etc.)* Be specific.
Constructive Criticism: 2-3 comments addressing what does not seem to be working or is missing (use of sources, organization, intro, conclusion, etc.)* Be specific.
Provide questions that will push the thinking and writing (and research when applicable) further. (What additional info would help you better understand the points being made? What questions come into your head as you read the paper?)
*Note: For every positive comment you give your colleague, you must also give a constructive comment. The purpose is not to give your col-league endless praise, but help their writing develop.
